Master-Slave Clock Systems
One accurate master clock drives any number of slave displays over RS232 / RS485, PLCC (power line) or wireless links.
How it works
In a master-slave system a single master clock — typically GPS-referenced — distributes time to many slave clocks. Slaves have no independent time source of their own; they simply display what the master sends, so every display is guaranteed to match.
Skylink supports several distribution methods: RS232 / RS485 serial cabling, PLCC (power-line carrier, which reuses the building’s existing power wiring), and wireless links. The right choice depends on distances, existing cabling and the number of displays.
Architecture
A GPS-referenced master keeps the system’s reference time.
RS232/RS485, PLCC (power line) or wireless links carry time to every slave.
Single, dual, tri or quad-face slave clocks show identical time.

Request ConsultationFrequently asked questions
What is PLCC?
Power-line carrier communication: time data travels over the building’s existing power wiring, avoiding new data cables.
How many slave clocks can one master drive?
It depends on the distribution method and layout. Share your requirement and we will design the system.
Are master-slave systems available off the shelf?
They are designed per project. Request a consultation for a proposal.
